The Top 10 Decade-Defining Movies

BY DANI FAITH LEONARD

Since the release of The Social Network, there has been much talk surrounding whether or not this will be the defining film of this generation, or at least the defining film of the decade.  Will this decade be defined by spying on our “friends” and looking at pictures of what they did (or who they did) on a Friday night while we are supposed to be working?

In the meantime, here are my Top 10 Decade-Defining Movies:

10 - Gone With the Wind (1930s)

9 - It’s a Wonderful Life (1940s)

8 - On The Waterfront (1950s)

7 - Rebel Without a Cause (1950s)

6 - The Graduate (1960s)

5 - Easy Rider (1960s)

4 - Saturday Night Fever (1970s)

3 - The Breakfast Club (1980s)

2 - Clueless (1990s) - runner up - Empire Records

1 - What will it be?  The Social Network?  Maybe a brainy film like Inception?  Only time will tell how we want this decade to be defined.
